"Juvenile Lightling" by Fyrius (Fery Camillus)

This is a juvenile Lightling. Lightlings are intelligent creatures, consisting of pure energy and feeding on zero point energy. They consist of a membrane and a core of light, and, although you can't see it on the black background of this picture, they are slightly transparent. At the moment, they live in large cities on the asteroids of an asteroid field.
They appear in two forms, a juvenile and an adult form. Juvenile Lightlings somewhat resemble sea rays in form, and appear in many bright colours. These juveniles are the base of the species. They multiply by asexual division (like amoebas do), after which both new juveniles need ten standard years to grow to their common size again, after which they either multiply again or combine to form a mature Lightling.
