"Oblivion (Dreamworld-unrelated)" by Fyrius (Fery Camillus)

Another out-of-context piece. I seem a little distracted of late.

This is my Trouble Stone, the Oblivion. I use it as an emotional outlet in an adaptation of a meditation that I learned from a book ("Live better: Meditation", Bill Anderton, 2005, page 59).

It is a perfectly round crystal ball with a diameter of about 20 centimeters (roughly 7.9 inches). Inside is a dark void, littered with stars, and slightly clouded by thin whisps of white mist. Its core consists of one particularly bright star, the function of which will be described below.

I use the Oblivion whenever I feel troubled, or whenever I'll need to dispose of an emotion for any other reason. I'll describe the procedure for whoever is interested.

Close your eyes and picture holding it in both your hands. Upon touching it, the mist inside changes in colour and starts to move around, in a way that fits the emotion that you want to dispose of. If you're angry it will turn red and start spinning around the core quickly, if you're sad it will turn dark blue and turbulate slowly, if you're depressed it will turn grey and hardly move at all, et cetera.
Then, you must let the emotion flow through your arms and hands, into the Oblivion, which will absorb it. Inside the orb, the emotion will look like more mist that shows the same behaviour as the mist that was already there. If you feel all is in the orb, make the core absorb all of the mist. It will shine more brightly for a brief moment after absorbing the mist, and then it will decrease again, leaving only some whisps of the normal white mist.

I made this with MS Paint in combination with Paint Shop pro 6. There were some parts of which I really couldn't imagine how to make them, being a complete PSP n00b, but it turned out quite well I think.
The only thing I'm not entirely pleased about is the set of reflections on the orb. They don't imply its roundness to the extend that I would have liked. On the other hand, I wouldn't know how else to do it, and I tried various ways already. Let's just say that it's something I'll need to learn later on.
