before how the sky is a place where birds can fly and planes can
fly, too. And they've told me before that it's full of nitrogen
and oxygen and that without it, there would be no life on Earth.
And they've told me how the sky is the place where rain comes
from and the place where clouds and stars are born, and also the
place where the sun wakes the rooster and the moon wakes the owl.
But they've never ever told me how the sky is really an immense
sea, and to call it "space" is really a terrible sin.
It's a sea of rocks, and a sea of gas. A sea of color and a sea
of life. The sky is a sea, and they've never told me that before.
I should tell them that. But for now I'm going sit here and
admire my sea. Before they come to claim that too. Blue and
purple, green and red, orange and yellow, it's all a massive sea.
I think I'm a fish, and the fish are really the earthen
creatures. The fish are the only earthen things. Them and
earthworms, underground creatures like moles and certain bugs.
But birds are fish. So are animals. And humans of course, are the
fishiest of things since they happen to go anywhere they want in
this sea, and in any way they please. I say we are all fish, but
the fish and the earthwormy things are not. They're really the
earthen things. The planetary things. I shall feel sorry for them
when I am up that way gliding down the Milky Way, but they will
never know the difference. Their seas are just as beautiful, so
maybe I shouldn't feel sorry at all. They, the humans that is,
once told me how the earth is round and that all planets are. How
all things and creatures alive in the universe live only to be
known on this planet, this little rock called Earth. I think that
they're wrong. They are wrong because the moon is very much alive
with life, and so is the sun and the other planets of our system.
They have action, and activity. Life swarms the entire multitude
of things, and still leaves that wholesome peace in every cavern
of stars. I shall tell them that too, that we are all fish, and
that life is everywhere and on every planet and every moon. They
forget like all humans do. I speak in sign through the glass
window of my room, and I ask you, my sea. Should I tell her? Of
course. Yes, when Linda comes I'll tell her what I know. She will
be kind. I trust her. Love her. When she comes, I'll tell her
what I learned. Thank you. Wash me away, my beloved sea. I am a
fish with dreams, so be kind. And cleanse me.
