SciFi and Fantasy Art Hengroen by Chloë Johnson

This is my view of how Hengroen, the stallion of King Arthur would have looked. I started after hering of the name carved into stone tablets in Wales; the story of his horse. Hengroen apparently means 'Old', or 'Worn', so it seems clear that King Arthur prefered his mare, Llamrei! However, it was Hengroen he is said to have ridden when Excalibur was pulled from the mountainside, and legend has it that some of the magic of the fabeled sword penetrated Hengroen as he bore it home... I'm hoping that this painting will now come under the 'Borderline' options on the new rules, as it is one of my best attempts at Soft Pastel work yet :)

I did a quick oil of this a while ago, bitws were better, bits were worse, but I don't think Elfwood would accept a second one, so I put it on Deviantart instead "
