This picture was inspired by Greek folklore. I'm not sure, actually, what it's supposed to represent :), but I have the feeling that the goblin is offering jewels to the mother, in exchange for her son. A quite fair goblin if you think about it, since traditionally they steal children rather than buy them! Watercolor and black ink.

Ha ha!!! Looks to me that the son is much more interested in the pearls then his is mother! Possibly the goblin would be better off making a deal with the boy for his mother instead?!

Sorry...I'm bitter...

I love it. But if I where the goblin I would buy something other then a child. I mean, come on, look at all those gems, jewels, and coin he has in the chest. Them Goblins need to set higher priorities.

this is a really nice picture, very whimsical (gotta love that, WHIMSICAL... my new favorite word)i do have to remark that i dont agree with anonymous up there about the mothers legs, she looks perfectly normal to me... we can't all have mile long legs, i know i dont...

my interpretation, before reading the description, is that the boy is being tempted by the imp, and his mother is patiently holding him back, annoyed by the imps presumptiousness (that's a word right?).

The boy seems pretty excited about being sold for lunch! Very cool picture, the colors are nice and the composition is very well done.

Hmm... The above comment is actually quite true. It's interesting though, it's as if the mother had some knowledge or had heard of the legend, and is precautioning the child not to take it. Narrative-wise very well done, with cheerful colors. keep it coming! 2

I like the mother's face. It actually looks as if she is considering the offer. I think its a little odd that the child seems to want to go though.

FAIR!?!?!?
Are you joking?!? NO jewelry is worth a child, and I'll kill her if she excepts!!! Look at that little boys excited little face!! Does he have any idea what's going on?!?

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... *jumpsaround* this is sooooooooooooooooooooo......... Coooooooooooooooooooollll, just awesome2!!! Woooow2!!! I love it2!!! The goblin looks very milascious, and one can really see how the kid would love to take the offer, but how the mother retains him, the look on her face is very well captured!!! And, just everything... Great job *chapeau*, really2!!!

:-) George Doutsiopoulos replies: "Thank you very much for your kind comments Stephanie, much obliged!"
