I'm getting a lot of e-mails asking what these books are about, so here is a brief summary of the first book:
One of the greatest warriors the Mortan Empire had ever known, Solus, was born into a family enslaved for being dissidents by the ruling religious order. The real crisis Solus faced, however, was the ancient spiritual counterpart, which had been passed down through his bloodline. Throughout history the spirit had risen in several of his ancestors binding them to a prophecy. None of those possessed had the strength to overcome the spirit and fulfil the prophecy; and in the end brought great suffering and havoc upon the nations of Westlon.
As an older boy Solus was taken from his family to the capital city of Sema. There he was taken under the wing of the Lady of a great family and given opportunities the rest of his family had never known. As his dreams of becoming a master sculptor were being realised an “accident” left his hands broken and useless. Solus was then sold to an old soldier who taught him how to fight. He became quite famous among the gambling circles, until his fits of depression and rage got the better of him and he brutally murdered the son of one of the Empire’s generals. Solus fled the Empire and wondered Westlon for many years, unknowingly making contacts he would need later in life.
When Solus was killed in the mountains by a monster plaguing the land, the spirit was once again awakened and Solus was brought back to life. Goloth, from the race of giants, took Solus to a temple deep within the mountains to recover. The monks at the temple worked him hard and push him to understand the extent of his extraordinary gifts. However, Paluule, one of the wizards of the Daulat Order, believed Solus would be overcome by the spirit and just like his ancestors bring great havoc to the world. After Solus left the temple with Goloth on a mission, Paluule conspires to have Solus killed. The plan failed and Solus fled into the wilds. Once again left to his own devises Solus battled demons plotting to possess him, elven mystics afraid of the horror suffered by one of Solus’ ancestors, and his own weaknesses.
