"Korweynite Royal Guard" by Holger ´Mangalore´ Goebber

Attempt at a full body mounted portrait. Stuck in some places (the rough unrefined places) I lay this to rest here because I think it already works very well but I don't have the heart to go back to it.

The Korweynite Royal Guard originated in the second Empire of the Sun made up of heavy horsemen from the Kassite steppes. In later centuries the heavy cavalrymen started to be filled with pureborn Korweynites (traditionally infantrymen) as well. The hallmark of them was their heavy horsearmor and long lances with which they could compete against the feared Santerran Frathra who employed wild warhorses and equally heavy armor. Bearing eagle feathers and the typical splint mail - a lamellar armor replacing the former more stylistic feather armor made of scales - and Korweynite helmets they were the honor guard of the emperor since the rise of the nation from the Dark Ages.
