1.Work on your lines (they are rather difficult though, aren't they?)
2.You may need a picture to look at while drawing until you memorize what the character looks like (I still do this)
3.Try not to make the hairline too straight. (It looks unatural)
4. Try shading to give your pics depth.
Just keep trying, Tammy!! The more you practice, the better you get!
