It just seems like there's something kind of hmmmmmm........abnormal about someone that obsessed with proper grammar usage. It's like pulling teeth kinda, y'know? Well, whatever, I'm an english instructor's nightmare. The pic is breathtaking and I happen to really love your description. Well, congrats!

Nice work G! I love it...your style just keeps getting more versatile. There's a certain touch of Japanese print and textile art in this. It's really quite beautiful...
| 9 Dec 2003 | Zachariah Campbell | Loading...Uh... In addition to the tremendous energy and anal retention of the previous post (not to mention futility: correcting grammar, particularly offenses as innocuous as this, on the internet is kind of like trying to drain the ocean through a drinking straw...), it's also presumptuous. This fey race has had their day of glory... now humans are on the rise... there for they regard human's ascension with "jealousy". They don't want to share their position at the top, and resent their own decline. Sounds okay to me. | |
| 9 Dec 2003 | Ms. Grammar | Loading...Good job with your work; however, you may have meant to use the word "envy" instead of "jealousy."
Envy
Noun: envy -- She has feelings of envy. Verb: to envy -- She envies you. Adjective: envious -- She is envious.
When someone else has something you want, you envy that person. For example:
Correct: I so envy you. You've got the exact house I wanted. Incorrect: I'm so jealous of you. You've got the exact house I wanted.
You can't be jealous of something you don't have (see below). Here's another example:
Correct: Look at that huge ice cream cone that guy has. I envy him. Incorrect: Look at that huge ice cream cone that guy has. I covet him.
Jealousy
Noun: jealousy -- She has feelings of jealousy. Adjective: jealous -- She is jealous.
When you have something you really like and don't want to share, you are jealous of that thing. For example:
Correct: She's a jealous wife; she doesn't want other women to talk to her husband. Incorrect: She's a covetous wife; she doesn't want other women to talk to her husband.
Remember, you feel jealous about something (or someone) you already possess. Another example is:
Correct: He guarded his secrets jealously, because he didn't want anyone else to know them. Incorrect: He guarded his secrets enviously, because he didn't want anyone else to know them.
