I don't roleplay women. I don't roleplay elves. These are, and have been, two of the most frustrating crutches that I throw at my DMs. As a DM, of course, I play elves and women with no handicaps and no reserves. But, I cannot and will not roll up a female character, nor will I an elf. The reasons are seperate. I have a keen dislike for elves overall, personally. I find the stereotype has killed the idea, and with it the intrigue. But I, for some reason, never felt that I could portray a believeable and integrating woman character. In a drow game, I'm the Illithid. In an Amazon game, I'm the female goblin, that is different from a male only physically. Yet, with that said and out of the way... Meet Loreh'Ahl. My first, female, elven character.

NOOOOOOO!!!!!! It's the Seventh Sign!! Greg's made a female character, AND she's an ELF!!

You goin' soft on us, boy?

But seriously, this is really nicely done. The colour application is solid, and the lighting and atmosphere work wonderfully. I'm there. The only reason this didn't net you a Mod's Choice is probably because you bad-mouthed elves in the description... heh. 2

:-) Gregory P. Gibbons replies: "Maybe I am going soft. I dunno. there's a real NPC story behind her, but this particular game was as good an opportunity as any to get into her character."

Besides the fact this seems to be a revolution on its own...I really dig your coloring technique here. I think it fits wonderfully well with the style of the linework and makes her very striking...you know, like now I have her printed in my mind and cant get rid of it...that's great talent!

Her torso on the right could have used some more blue lighting, but I absolutely love the colours coming from different directions. Even if some people think she might look a little buff, it fits with her strenght. And being named Loreh'Ahl (L'Oreal) she must have really nice hair!!! Was that an intended pun??

I liked to make the elven race a greater thing than it is portrayed as, as the HUGE tolkienesque nature of elves these days I like to think of them in images of more alien and non human like qualities. Try to see them as a non human thing, a more mystical idea, i personally am so bvery tired of the very common Human with pointy ears, and almond shaped eyes, there is little that makes them seem a different race. Nice work all the same, well formally, not as much content wise.
