Hi Steph, I was looking at your pics and I think that you need to work a few things to improve.
One- Study a little fo anatom, copy from other artists that you like to see how they solve their problems (don't claim as yours though, copyright infringement is very bad), I used to copy a lot from Disney when I was a teenager and it helped me a lot.
Two- Don't be afraid of coloring. Don't be afraid of shading. WHen you shade chose first a light source and then follow it all through the pic. Also don't use 'the same color but darker' or black, use other colors to shade. It works, believe me.
Three- Get away of photoshop filters, they do no good to your art, they do look artificial, try to achieve the effects on your own or try to use them a little bit, and subtly.

Last, I wanted to say that you have many cute characters here, and that I will love to see your improvements in the future. The oencil mermaid has a very interesting face and I think that is the way to go.

Most of these pics are fairly old actually and I have improved tremendously in the last few months (according to everyone else anyways). I will be posting more recent photos on here (if the moderators ever get around to lookin at my ticket) and then I hope you will come and visit again."
