This is a sketch of one of those 'Battle Beast' figures from the mid-to-late Eighties. The anatomy is all over the place, especially his right leg, but it IS only a sketch. =D I don't know whether you could call it spot-coloured (black and white with hints of another colour), but that's the kind of thing I was experimenting with.
Apparently, he is a water buffalo. His US name was 'Roamin' Buffalo', his Japanese name was 'Violet-Horn', and his beast name was 'Janaka'. Fancy that. =D

Oh neat! I remember those things, they were so cool! Nice drawing, I saw the thumbnail and thought "Hey, that rememinds me of those litle monster toys from when I was a kid..." and lo! It is one of those! Yay!Well, I've had this one for YEARS, and he's become one of my desk mascots. Whenever I looked at him, I thought "I'm gonna draw you", and finally one bored afternoon, I did it!

Reminds me of the Minatek bot from BioF.R.E.A.K.SCan't say I know what that is. A cartoon by any chance?

Very nice inking... I don't remember those cartoons I was like 5 or 6 at the time but it reminds me of something that could be from an anime. Thanks. The inking's nothing really special - I used a ball-point pen! But if other people say it's good inking, then it must be! =D The character design has a lot of potential, so I wouldn't be surprised if something similar has turned up elsewhere!

For some reason this reminds me of one of those beasties that would pop up in Doom... lovely creatures >_In my opinion, biro's a very underrated artists' tool. I've often achieved some attractive effects with biro. I can see the "Doom" resemblance, but strangely enough I hadn't seen it until you mentioned it! =D
