SciFi and Fantasy Art Savage orc by Kelvin Michael Green

This is a drawing of one of Games Workshop's Savage Orcs, Orcs who live in the jungle and use primitive weaponry. It is based on one of their painted minatures. I drew this in 1995, and I'm sad to say that nothing I've done in colour since has matched up to this work. The response I got from my art teacher over this (let's just say, it wasn't good) was enough to put me off art for a long time.

Heh, I painted a few of those myself. He looks pretty neat. You did however draw the hand that holds the bow wrong. There are actually very few artists who do it right though. You need to look at the way a bow is held.Alex, you're right, the posing and anatomy in this picture are both a little off. Do bear in mind that this was drawn six years ago, though! And how do we know that the foolish creature just isn't holding the bow incorrectly? =D

*laffs* This guy is great! I love his outfit, suitably ethnic...that bone headress, it's hilarious...that art teacher must've been off his/her nut to not like this pic when it's just got so much personality I can't take too much credit for the design, since it's based on an actual miniature. However, I've got plans for more in this tribal/savage style, so keep your eyes peeled!

always remember: those who can't do, teach.

(may not always be the case, but often)

Your Orc is good. Don't let people say otherwise.

walks off mumbling...teachers...smeachers...screachers...It's long in the past now, and I do see the teacher's point, but thanks for the encouragement. I hope no one ever has to go through this kind of thing again, but unfortunately I'm sure it will still happen...=(
