I also don't have the patience to draw backgrounds! But at least you put in some nice dark colors. Most of my stuff is b/w pencil so I don't really put anything in there. I like the dark colors you have here, though.

So hows your practices and art getting along? excellent I hope =D. Btw, you are right! Tablet makes smoother and drawing digitally easy! Though I need practice of being able to use it and look at my monitor screen at the same time =S. Hehe, anyways hope you've been doing new pics (can't wait til you upload, your works improves alot and are more 'enchanting' as you go along =D)
