Another excerpt from The Blue Ruby Rose
'Just as the cold of the night began to take its toll on everyone wandering outside, they all quickly hurried off in all different directions to begin their life as a new person, as a free person. Shivini also began to rush off away from the Castle. She headed for a forest in the distance. She entered it, and after wandering around for a short while, she realized that it was the thickest forest she had ever been in. Of course, Shivini knew that she spent most of her life in that prison, so she obviously was aware that she had never been in an actual forest, but from the stories she would hear from the older girls who also tried to elude the authorities, this forest seemed different for some reason. Indeed, hearing about them and literally being there are completely different things.
Shivini groped her way around for some time, using only the moon's light as a guide of not running into any trees, until she found a clearing. Here, she pulled out the object she picked up from the unconscious guard and began studying it. Then it struck her......'

The background was done by me with 3D Studio MAX, and Shivini was drawn by one of my good friends, Rei Hino.

Me brudder! You still kick ass in 3dsmax! Seems like we keep missin' each other in #loth, tho... ;.;

:-) Alex Hakobian AKA Avaz replies: "Aye, I've not had enough time on my hands to be on there as I used to be. I'd be lucky now if I were on there more than once a week. ;_; Thanks for the kind words though, very much XD"

If, by chance, these woods could lead up to one of the castles you draw, I so want to live in your world. ^_^

The mood of this piece is very deep, and I can almost feel the cool foggy mist that lingers....

13 Alex Hakobian AKA Avaz replies: "Actually, in my mind, it did in fact lead up to the one castle that I had done with the overhead view. But having both the forest AND the fog AND the castle just made for an uber-cluttered picture, so I decided to seperate them to two seperate images. Works out better this way, IMO. But I must say, I am still not completely satisfied with the fog.. It's not exactly the way I wanted to show it, but that's only due to the fact that I wasn't proficient enough in the program for it to do what I wanted."

very nice, love the mist effect! The shading could be a bit darker, but very awesome!

2 Alex Hakobian AKA Avaz replies: "Thanks! Although it's supposed to look like fog. Again.. *points to last part of previous comment's reply*"

o_o wow....this is so cool....Trees are hard for me to draw.....I just cant do it....but this is so cool....I love the mood and the misty feeling....this really has heart. Awesome job!!

2 Alex Hakobian AKA Avaz replies: "Yup, thanks. It took a while to model the tree in 3D, but after that, getting the mist to look right was more difficult than I thought, but I managed. 2 Thanks again."

Great job! I could see this in an online RPG or something like that. I like the look on the guy's face, like oh crap they're gonna see me. The trees might be a bit too unfoilaged but that's probably what you were going for.

12 Alex Hakobian AKA Avaz replies: "*nod* It's not often you see a tree bearing leaves in the dead of winter, with a thick fog hanging about. 10"

Fantastic! The trees and the fog came out very beautiful!

2 Alex Hakobian AKA Avaz replies: "Thanks again. But if i had more experience with the program, it would have been even more accurate than what I came up with. It works though, and so I'll keep it. 2"

It's beautiful. Very mysterious. Well done!

I think that your background is outstanding! I love the way the trees in the distant are hazey and a lighter shade. It really emphasizes the mystique of the composition. Im not even sure if the figure is important...not that it is drawn poorly, but I just find the background to be "more important"...if that makes sense. Great job.
