SciFi and Fantasy Art Luthien by Heather Jean Ariizumi

This is the oldest piece in this gallery - probably made around the end of 2002. I had been copying photographs of the actors from the Lord of the Rings movies, and someone had suggested that I try creating my own compositions and to try color. I made several attempts to draw Luthien from J.R.R. Tolkien's The Silmarillion, and this was the best one that didn't end up looking like Snow White. The bird is a nightingale (of course) and she was described as having a 'shining light' on her face. This was done with cheapo RoseArt colored pencils from Wal-Mart on type paper. \(^_^)/

3 Jul 2005	Krishane 'Isilinde' Wyatt	Loading... Oh, and the hand appears to be a bit flat. I'd sketch and practice on hands before you start a new composition if I were you. That way you won't have to draw and erase so much. Hands are some tough business, eh?

I really think you ought to get some quality colored pencils (you can buy them individually at Hobby Lobby or an art store)...get some good paper, and try to redraw the composition. It's beautiful, but if it's just going to be on thin type paper, then it will fade quickly and decay very soon. Also, I would suggest trying to darken the hair color. I love this drawing. Especially the glow on her face.
