Last year (2008) I started a zodiac series. The idea was to work in different manga styles and have the pictures done for Otakon. It took me about a month to get all of my research together before starting the sketches. I like to include a lot of the symbolisim of the different signs, and some times that trips me up when I can't decide what all I want to do. A couple pieces took three to four tries before I was happy with the final sketch, and there is one where I ended up with two sketches I really like, and will finish both versions. The series is on Arches HP watercolor paper, and had to be scanned in two parts and pasted together in Photoshop.
Otakon was a disappointment, ( $10 for an original picture? I don't think so!), I ended up buying them back myself and in a later show I sold Leo and Virgo. I am happy I didn't undersell myself, though I am sure some folks would say I still did.
As of today I only have four done, Aries, Leo Virgo and Pisces. Of the four only Pisces can really be considered fantasy, what with her walking on water and all. the others i nthe series can be seen on my Deviant Art gallery.
