Seriously, I can't even begin to tell you how much I like it! To be honest I never imagined Tanis the exact way that Larry Elmore depicts him, as I think he makes him look really old and gaunt!! I'm not saying that I don't like Larry Elmore (who would?) but I actually agree more with your vision of Tanis. He looks very handsome. The colored version is too small... I'd love to see a bigger version!!!  Jenny M. Right now I am still trying to figure out if his legs look alright the way I have them in the sketch, if they are the right size and all that, or if I should make them fold back like in the colored version... This is by far the best picture of Tanthalas I've ever seen!!! *drools* I also love Elmore and the original covers WHERE and always will be my favorites...however while his ladies look stunning I've always found his men to be lacking....something. I dunno, maybe it's me?! But anyway, back to your Tanis pic.....wow! *continues to drool*  Jenny M. Heidewald replies: "Jenny's Note: *bows* I am honored. It took a long time to draw him where I was satisfied with the way he looked (thus the reason why he is the last one to show up in my gallery), a postcard with a scantily clad guy on it helped me out with this one. When I saw that 80's postcard I knew it was perfect! It's interesting that when I compared this drawing to a drawing I had done a bit earlier that the expressions were the same. I have a bigger colored version but it's not very well done (you know when you aren't really into a project at the time and just want to get it done?) after my latest Tas and Flint picture get through the que, I'll put him up (hopefully colored a bit better!). As for Elmore's versions, I don't know what to say about the guys, maybe it's because they all look so grim ( with good reason)? Hey was Flint on the cover? Tanis, Goldmoon, Sturm, Caramon, Tika, Raist, Tas, Laurana and Kit... Hmm, so Riverwind and Flint were left off the covers, well there were so many of them I guess that would have unbalanced it. Heidewald replies: "Jenny's Note: Amazing, the one I don't think turned out much like the character at all, you think is perfect! And the answer is no to the Tanis question. If you had read the other books you'll note there was a time he didn't have a beard, namely when he was younger and living with the elves. He shaved in order to fit in better, which he never did unfortunately. Ah well." | |
