| 7 Mar 2004 | | Loading...Oh!! I know! xP They're mating while dancing, right? Jenny M. Heidewald replies: "Jenny's Note: I was thinking more like the courting dance before the mating, like what eagles do, but yeah. " | |
| 4 Apr 2004 | Steve (Greybird) Reed | Loading...More of a genuine "mating" than I've ever seen, especially in the sense of courtship. And about time! You have them mingling with it being difficult to tell whose tailfins are whose, and that's as it should be. Thank you for showing the man's face, as well, and I hadn't realized how often it had been slighted in other mer-art until I read your comments. Yes, that's a lot of hair ... but as William Blake would have said (and apropos of Lalaith above), the road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom, even under the sea. Who'd put credence in a mermaid with a page-boy haircut? {grin} Jenny M. Heidewald replies: "Jenny's Note: I think that in most pictures with people kissing, the guy gets shunned when it comes to showing the face, not just merfolk ones. Maybe the hair serves another purpose, mybe for catching fish? No wonder mermaids brush their hair so much of the time..."Eewwww...I caught another fish..." or would that be " Yum dinner!"... "EWW, IT'S OLD!" < Thanks for your comment!" | |
| 13 Apr 2004 | Justine (Greensleeves) T. Phillips | Loading...Lol, j/k. Beautifully portrayed. Though of all the times I have tried that, I was never able to get that water affect with colored pencil... *curse the cheap colored pencils that outnumber the good ones in her drawing pouch!!* That is an interesting concept. I think it is because the woman always has to be the beautiful one. More beautiful than the man, etc. The woman is always the one emphasised. Because usually she's kissing a man of lesser beauty, or one that's completely ugly. There's also the fact that the man is 'supposed' to be sweeping the female off of her feet, into the air, etc. What an interesting way to flip it around! Not saying that either of your characters are hideous or anything.... The tails are beatiful. If I could just make one criticization: It is in my opinion that the hair would have looked better (of course, to me), if it had been framing the two figures. Since the tails are framing the lower part of the picture, ya know. Okay, we leave now. Bye bye. +*+Murasaki no Ryuu+*+ Jenny M. Heidewald replies: "Jenny's Note: After about a months break, it's comment reply time! It took a long time to get the water perfectly blended! Nowdays I'd just use watercolor pencil, or just a wash of watercolor, it's easier! As for the hair (*looks at picture* Wow, it's prettier than I remembered...And I am on two tours?! Wow! *bows to tour makers*), I am guessing you mean to make the hair float down to curl around the merman? I was trying to depict the downward floating they are doing, like eagles do in their mating dance. Thank you for your thoughts!" | |

| 31 Dec 2004 | Anonymous | Loading...I have an idea though it only works with the Merpeople have human bodies on land LOL! and I can't say on this sight because the Elfwood Police are scary ppl Jenny M. Heidewald replies: "Jenny's Note:Ummmm, ok...*scratches head*" | |
| 26 Jan 2005 | Esther | Loading...I think you have a good point about the hair. Mine gets hopelessly tangled if I go swimming without braiding it up. Jenny M. Heidewald replies: "Jenny's Note: I am just learning how to swim (still have to get the hang of it), and it works best with my hair to have it under one of those dorky swimmers hats. " | |
| 19 Dec 2005 | Look over Here | Loading...I think merpeople could mate under water like dolphins. The boys would have a slit under the belly button holding the "stick", and mergirls would have a slit as well but this would store the birthing canal. For something similar to this on centaurs enter this website and go to the commement by Kyle ^_^. http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/art/m/e/meg/suetaur.jpg.html Jenny M. Heidewald replies: "Jenny's Note: Oh my, you sound like you've given the centaur stuff a lot of thought, very complex. I wonder if the females ever get confused. I agree with you about the merfolk though, and the babies probably would be birthed like dolphins as well. Gotta keep an eye out for sharks though! Or maybe they would go onto land, like mother sea otters do. I guess it would depend. " | |
| 27 Nov 2007 | Earthboundspirit | Loading...Oh no, u silly humans, *sigh* the sharks and the mer people are all distant cousins, they wouldnt dare eat eachother, that’d be not only canibalistic, but starting wars here and there and such. Only mer folk can control the instinct of sharks. Duh. silly mortal. Jenny M. Heidewald replies: "But what if they got caught in an underwater cave together and one of them got killed byt the rock fall, and the only way to keep up their strength to get out is to eat the dead one? I am thinking of an episode of "American Dad" as I write this... < " | |
