SciFi and Fantasy Art Rose´s Faerie by Jenny M. Heidewald

This was inspired by the movie 'Bambi', which my friend Rose lent me, the rain drop scene: 'Drip drip drop little April showers!' I wanted to do a picture with raindrop/dew faeries and I have one that is bigger with more faeries, but I wasn't sure how to do the background the way I wanted it and I didn't want to mess it up. So I took one of the segments and colored it, this took me a week. A note on the roses, they were inspired by a recent moderator's choice: .
I discovered that part of the secret to getting them to look real, or halfway real, is TEXTURE! Also, the wings on the faerie were inspired by another recent moderators choice: Also worth noting is that I used no black in this picture, which I did with watercolor pencil (Faber-Castell) and colored pencil (Prismacolor). In this one, I think you did a gorgeous job on the fairy, specially in her hair and clothes. You chose the colors very well, in my opinion, since the fairy doesn't blend with the background but still looks like she's in her natural environment. Don't tell the other artist, but I like your roses better! Jenny M. Heidewald replies: "Jenny's Note: It took a bit of thinking to decide what color to make the dress for the faerie, and her other colors. I was really afraid I was going to loose her in the background , which often happens in a detailed drawing, but the background colors worked out perfectly, which you have noticed. I won't tell, but I am very grateful to have been inspired by her. Thank you for your high compliments!"

OH WOW..stares...blinks...WOW...i love it...i am a BIG fairy freek..lol...shes soo prudy..have you ever tried drawing a vampier?? i havet gone threw all your drawings yet..but i was just wondering..>.you probly draw a cool looking pirate/vampier..O.O..that would be cool..^^.... 13 Sep 2008	Melissa "Bee" Stephan	Loading... Beautiful. This makes me think of a snowglobe my grandmother gave me that features a beautiful faerie catching a raindrop from a flower of one kind or another. Never stop making art!
