~~~*(MOONING WARNING!!!)*~~~I love the way the wings turned out, a colored background really does make a difference! I decided to put both of these up together because while the yellow one is nice, the face didn't turn out the way the one in the sketch did. I am making one more because this faerie happened, as an accident, to be exactly what I was trying to draw about four months ago. The one I was trying to draw four months ago was going to be 'Teardrop Faerie' because I was feeling down and sad. Funny how things like this work out.
*blush* I think I like the first sketch better...While I love the colours of the coloured fairy, the sketch has more detail that you cant see in the coloured version. But I think she is very elegant looking....very whimsical 1
2 Jenny M. Heidewald replies: "Jenny's Note: I agree with you, the colored one lost some of the emotion I was trying to convey (sp?). Hopefully I'll finish her one day!"
Them li'l curly shoes is cute! But yes, this pic is sad and gloomy, even if it is cute. You do an excellent job of combinig two seemingly opposite/mismatched moods in one harmonious blend that spoils neither. One tiny problem I may point out, though: in the colored version, the wing in the foreground seems more translucent that the edge of the one in the background, whereas it should be the other way around if you intended to make the wings seem translucent at all. If they were meant to be opaque, I will shut up now.
18 Jenny M. Heidewald replies: "  Jenny's Note: Thank you for the comment! I was thinking more opaque (easier so I don't have to figure out where exactly the second wing is!) but I will keep in mind what you said for when I do translusent wings again (if I remember!) "
That's such a pretty fairy!! I love her. The yellow really compliments the skin and hair color you chose. Awesome. Her wings are also very nice. . . it turned out great.
13 Jenny M. Heidewald replies: "Jenny's Note: Thank you, I hardly ever work with yellow for clothes and such things, and I am glad this one worked out so nicely!"
Oh sheesh You're making me want to pick a pastel up I suck at! Your so good!I love them both! Do More! hehe
:-) Jenny M. Heidewald replies: "Jenny's Note: Aww, Heather, you are too kind. Color used to hate me as well, and I still need to work on my lighting, but if you practice, and check out lots of books from the library( Lee Hammond also works in Colored pencil), you'll get better and better. 2 Thank you again for all of your sweet comments, and keep up the drawing!"
beautiful. artistic. original. i love the combination of the two. it shows creativity and skill. i think i like the BW best. its also symbolic in a sence. well done.
1 Jenny M. Heidewald replies: "Jenny's Note(way late!): Thank you! I like the b&w one the best myself, sometimes things just lose a certain spark in the transformation to color. Of course sometimes they gain something too. I always like seeing how different things end up. 2"
