Ik know that after the movie most people see hobbits dressed in 19th century british clothing and with pointy ears. In my own imagination they always were a bit different. Never liked the ears in the movies and saw them in more medieval outfits. So here they are, merry and ready for a nice countryside party. So we have pipes, flute, fiddle and the bodhrán. I printed these musicians on postcards and they are running quite well for birthday cards!!!

I agree. Excellent work here! It reminds me of an illustration I saw in a medieval text.

I like it, though I'm not the biggest hobbit fan. But this IS one of those pictures that wants me to get some dark pencil and give it something... I dunno.. I'm misshing depth? though it is fine and would fit in any picture book. 2 It's just a nagging feeling I get.

:-) Henning Janssen replies: "Hmhm .. yes ... very fragile drawing. I´ll see if I can adjust the curves a bit to come closer to the original drawing. It´d still be fragile ....Anyhow - the wishing card is popular enough as it is one of the vew suitable for birthdays ...."

That is very cute, and they are right, the last one is very Sam-like... I like it though 2 Good job!

Now this is one birthday card I would be honored to receive. I truly like all of your work but this is my favorite. Maybe because it reminds me of medieval illuminations. I also agree that the hobbits were to be dressed in the medieval garb.

:-) Henning Janssen replies: "I don´t know where you live but I doubt that this card will be available anywhere except for Germany and the Netherlands for quit some time. Thanks for your support in the clothing question!"

Excellent, excellent work. And I agree, the movies didn't portrait the hobbits I saw at all.
I love it when people show their own unique mental images of things, not just what the movies show.
