Ken Heronheart

Ken Heronheart

Ken was born in 1962. His influences tend to be Brian Froud, early Terri Windling, and Art Nouveau. Most of his work is grey-scale, almost black and white. In general he tries for simple 'archetypical' drawings similar to tarot cards.

Fantasy Art. I have a fantasy that art means something. That life is a story, and that art can help to tell that story. When I am successfull as an artist, my art conveys to the viewer the feeling hat life is an ongoing, coherent story, and that it is somehow important that the viewer pay attention to this story. I think line-art is uniquely suited to this task because, no matter how representational it is, line-art is inherently abstract. Even a completely color-blind person doesn’t perceive the world as pattern of pure black and white lines. In the process of “decoding” these lines into a picture, the viewer is forced to invest the image with meaning. With luck and good will, that meaning will go beneath and beyond the simple surface representation of an object to a deeper meaning and significance which is unique to each viewer.

I like your rough black & white style. It's much more intensive and expressive than most of the plain ol' pencil works in the 'woods.

Your work is amazingly beautiful. I admire your orginal pictures. It's a very gothic art appeal. Art isn't always about how well you draw but perhaps how it catches someones attention. Especially when it is as good as this. Good Luck on your work. I want to see more.
