SciFi and Fantasy Art The Whole World Through by Whitney ´Hitnwey´ Spencer

Every year my school hosts an exchange student from Japan. The first year at this school, I was in gr.10, and utterly terrified. I happened, by a freak of chance, to meet up with one of the two Japanese students who was in my class. She was just as scared as I was, only she was scared in Japanese. I mostly got over my fright by helping her. Trying to help her helped me too, 'cause it made me pay attention and do well so I could keep helping her. Eventually the school year ended and she had to go back to Japan, so I drew this picture for her, just as a representation that no matter how far apart we were, we were still 'sisters', just as our cities were (Halifax, Canada is sister-city with Hakodate, Japan)
