Yuck. I think maybe I hate this picture now- I've just spent the last hour learning about pro-ana and pro-mia, and I realized that some of my own artwork appears to supports the thin ideal. The original sketch for this was actually a reaction to a poem I heard about a girl who died of anorexia, and was now finally 'lighter than air.' The idea just seemed so alien to me that someone could want to be THAT SKINNY, but at the same time I knew I was in danger of falling prey to that idea. I'm not fat, but I ain't skinny either, and I have bouts of obsession with my weight. Anyhoo, this picture was a personification of those twisted feelings, resulting in a twisted, yet almost beautiful alien creature. Almost beautiful, but not human, and not something I could ever love. People should not be this way.

29 Oct 2003		Loading... Oh, wow... First?!? Man, I wish I could do that with photoshop (alas, all I can manage is a few single layer paint-inside-the-lines sorta thing). What I first noticed when I saw the thumbnail was the general shape of the pic...it's very well composed. It definitely reminds me of the art nouveau style with the borders and all...and the purple dragon-y lady's pretty sweet, too I can't wait to see what you'll do with photoshop next o.0 Oh, yeah... First Comment Dance!!

Your background was one of the first things that caught my attention, it almost looks like a stained glass window. I am also amazed you colored this picture in photo shop which I know is a hard task! Well all in all great job and keep up the good work!

17 Jun 2005	Crista	Loading... This is a most beautiful peice of artwork. it makes me want to almost breakdown and cry, but jump for joy at the same time. it is so graceful, and it shows all the pains of the steriotypes of perfectly skinny girls. i think many people can relate to this. great work!

I know how you feel, a friend of mine dealt heavily with Ana and Mia, and I almost fell prey to their seductions as well. This piece... is amazing. You truly have a brilliant mind to come up with these things. I love how you coloured the wings... do you mind sharing how you made them seem translucent? (we'll pretend I spelled that right, okay?)
