SciFi and Fantasy Art Portrait of a seahorse by Karin Holmström


	This drawing has been in my gallery before, so it´s not new, but earlier it shared paper with another seahorse under the name 'Seahorse sketches'. I decided to throw out the other seahorse and give more room to this one instead, and now it´s much bigger an clearer! Done in pencils on the ferry between Sweden and Finland.

25 Jan 2005	Ariella M. Phillips	Loading... I LOVE THIS!! Didi you have a real horse as a reference? I like the place you put the fin... And that is a way cool mane! The spots are really good... Question? Does it have fur or scales? Karin Holmström replies: "Thanks! No, I had no reference for this one (I found no horse on the ferry...). Concerning the fur/scales I´m not really sure...I think I had dolphin-skin with dapples in mind when I drew this, even though dolphins don´t have that kind of fins. Well, seahorses are SO realistic anyway, aren´t they? ^_^"
25 Jan 2005	Adair Siiver	Loading... This is really excellent. I usually find things of this type a bit too weird, but I really love it. You did a great job integrating the fin, and the dapples are lovely!
25 Jan 2005	Christine Unteregger	Loading... I love your seahorses! They are so special! Esspecially the gill-fin (or however you may call it) is very nice. Your technipque with pencils is very good - as far as I can say. I also like your seahorse on the shore (next picture).

Wish i could draw like that on ferries, and not throw up on it! Karin Holmström replies: "Hehheh, thanks! Usually the waves on the Baltic aren´t that high, so I had no problems...^_^"
