i thought i would be interesting to try and make a human and dragon look like they're dancing. also i was curious to see how 'dotting' would make a dragon skin look. pretty satisfied, but those were a lot of dots... if anyone knows any other cool techniques that can express texture or light please tell me!!

Like the concept... Though I think dragons won't make excellent dance partners. What could happen when one accidentally steps on your toes huh..? Nice picture by the way! Must be very patient to draw all those dots...

If you want other techniques, you might want to try hatching (many lines goin in one direction) and crosshatching (many lines that overlap each other to emphasize shadows). They are actually more basic than strippling (dotting) but the effect is much better if you ask me...

:-) Jasper Schellekens replies: "hi! notice the dancer's lack of feet 2 yeah, those dots... i'm working on a picture which will have hatching and cross hatching. thanx for the techniques!"

I like the poses...the dragon has kind of a sly look to him. The stippling is lovely. Nice work! *smiles*

I like the wings and the underbite and the windblown hair.
The dot shading is great! This is Valdary from LJ by the way!

:-) Jasper Schellekens replies: "hi valdary! thanx! those dots were a pain, not planning on doing something like that again any time soon."

Oh SURE, that's how it always starts out...a little drink, a little dance...then BAM...somebody ends up as dinner!

Just kiddin'. The shading is very cool and it must have taken forever. One thing you might try that can create a little more random effect is loading a short bristled brush with watered down india ink or paint and "flicking" it with your thumb onto the paper. You can mask off areas that you don't want to cover and change the angle and direction of the brush to get different looks.

The above mentioned effect works really great on comics where you're showing blood spatter from a gun shot or something like that.
