"What are you?" the pond fey whispered.  The small creature stared up at her with eyes the size of beads spun in a spider's web. Her hair was as thin as thread, dark like night, and hung delicately over her miniscule shoulders. She had olive skin that melded into a dark brown as it reached her tail, which was adorned with many black and green markings of all sorts. The pond fey held her close to her ear, and though it was faint, she could hear a small voice saying: "I am a minnow mer. Please do me no harm, for I have done no harm to you..."

A picture I started months ago, but despite it's flaws, I decided to finish it. It's depicting a young pond fey who is curious about her little discovery, a minnow mermaid that lives in the pond she was going to bathe in. Took about 35 hours in colored pencil on sketchbook paper.

Oh, this is just beautiful! The DETAILS! And that expression on the pond fay's face is just adorable. Great colours, concept and background story. Really a great picture.

Such a small mermaid! I keep imaging horrible squishy scenarios invloving the little gals... *Eaych...*

A great idea and another amazingly colored picture. I just think the grass on the background looks plain and a little lacking with details usually present in your other work. 18

1 Kristin Lewis replies: "Thank you, Vincent! Glad you decided to stop and take a peek at my new work. Hmm...squishy. Never thought of that! Could make some humorous picture involving that scenario...lol! Ya, the grass is a little plain, but I got a little lazy towards the end (backgrounds can be a bore sometimes). It's my fault really. The only reason I can come up with to explain it, is that there is focus on the nymph, and so it is out of focus behind her (like photography) 2 "
