"Pain and Sorrow" by Leah Kresl

A dragon, slave to humans since hatching, had his wings clipped so he could not fly anymore. He was sold from human to human, some nice to him, others cruel and abusive, when he was finally rescued by an elf. They became good friends and partners. But, they were both being hunted by humans. One day, the elf fell ill from a poisoned dart. As weak as the elf was, the two carried on. The elf grew strong again, yet the inevetable happened. The day came when the humans caught up with them. The elf was knocked unconcious, and the dragon, in an effort to protect his good friend, killed all the humans. But, one human lived just long enough to deal a fatal blow, stabbing the dragon through the heart with a spear. As the dragon lies dying, he wonders how he will reach Heaven when he can't fly. When the elf wakes up, the poor fellow will be heartbroken.

OK, I uould have drawn the elf, too, but i CANNOT draw people AT ALL. The best i can do is a demented stick person.
