I wanted to draw a Gipsy Moth, and when I was sketching at the begining I was going for skinny girls. Then I thought "wait up! moths are fat and cute, so my gipsy moth should be rather fat too". So I did this beautiful big woman, dancing happy at night.

This is my first watercolor. I had used watercolor pencils before, but the technique is very different! I decided to try how to use watercolors, I still need to work a lot and learn. Also, the digital picture does not respect the colors of the original, I tried to get the setings right, played with adjustments, and this is as close as I can get to it.

Oh, wow! A mod's choice! I am so flattered! I am so happy! Thank you mods! I'll answer all the wonderful messages later, it's my B-day today and I'm in the middle of everything.... yay! perfect B-day present!  :)

It's nice to see an artist take a more realistic approach to the bodies of women in art. The folds of her skirt are very nicely done as well. The only thing I would suggest is widening your range of values in the piece.

:-) Constanza Ehrenhaus replies: "Thanks a lot Sonya, for the nice comment and for the crit. I think you are right about the values, unluckily I do not own the original anymore, but I will consider this for future pieces."

Great watercolour work! I also like the expression on the lady's face! Well, to tell the truth, I have never seen a fair-haired gypsy before... but she is lovely anyway!;-)

:-) Constanza Ehrenhaus replies: "Thanks Jana! Actually there is a lot of faired hair gipsies coming from Hungary and places of the like. I've seen plenty of them, it depends a lot on the tribe they belong to."

I love this she has such a happy caring face like a grandma figure or someting i love how you used your water colour you are a vary good artist and again i like that you use some curves you show that big is beautiful too awsome

:-) Constanza Ehrenhaus replies: "Thanks a lot Nicole. I am also pleased with the outcome of this lady. beauty is not in size, I believe, but in a nice smile, sweet eyes, and a great attitude. I am sad when I see girls starving themselves till getting sick just to fit some stupid standard that is not their own body's.Thaks for your lovely comment!"

:-) Constanza Ehrenhaus replies: "2 Well, I am glad she made you smile. And who says that she is not real!? She is very real, she has a big heart and to prove it. "
