This picture was done for Rufus-Kain over at Deviantart.com for winning a contest in my journal. He asked for a picture of his vampire, and after many long months of deliberation and careful planning, I decided to do an illustration based on his story. It's a decent story (I really enjoyed it, anyway). This is the accumulation of over ten hours of work poring over a sketchbook page (no other paper to use x,x) with a mechanical pencil. Hmmm. Drawn from imagination, so I know a few things are off. I tried my best to get the lighting pretty much correlated throughout the piece. Don't know how well I succeeded there. What do you think? :/ I know I got a few details wrong... I wasn't sure how the vampires were supposed to look exactly (they're two different kinds), and when I tried to research, I kept getting pictures of teeny tiny little models. Needless to say, that didn't really help much. Also, the guy that was thrown to the ground should be a lot more wounded than he is... oops, sorry. Heh. *dead*

Now was there anything else I was going to say? Oh yeah, the sword... the sword was never specified either, so I took some liberties. It's like burnished silver with dark onyx gems in the hilt. The blade is forked at the end to suggest vampiric fangs (it's a blood-sucking sword, peeps!) and the blade is somewhat rounded (if you've seen models of Sting from LOTR, you'll know what I mean by that), with lots of grooves for blood to run down and be absorbed by the blade. Oh, and the way the guard is done on the hilt is to suggest the folded legs of a spider. Maybe when the sword has drunk enough blood, they unfold or something cool like that. XD It is a living sword, actually... I think anyway, from what I could remember.

Thanks for lookin!
