this reminds me of Alhanna Starbreeze when she returns to Silvanesti in Dragons of Winter Night to find the trees twisted in horrible nightmarish agony. hmmm.

Butterflies are symbolic of souls. If this was in a time where there were no more trees, she could be freeing her sould to fly back to a time when she remembered trees WERE and were honored and loved.
