I drew Kyarie on canvas pad first. Built a frame. Then took canvas from a roll, measured and cut to size. Stretched and primed. Took Kyarie (unpainted), and applied her to my stretched and primed canvas. Painted her, and added the dragon behind her. Then, entertwined Celtic Knotwork around the dragon horns,  as the border. The Celtic Knotwork was painted and given texture with Grey Sandstone.

This piece was entered in the 2005 2nd Annual Celebrate the Arts, in Northwest County Missouri, on April 17. It wasn't my idea to enter her. The coordinator seen me painting her outside, and loved her! A lot of people loved her! And she asked me to please enter her. Unfortunately, a lot of controversy began over her. Kyarie had to be removed, because it was believed she was suggesting nudity! Can you believe it? Geesh! Look at the Sistine Chapel.

Anyhow, she gained rave reviews, from many judges and other artists as well. They said, if they had their way, she would of remained in the exhibit. Even the coordinator agreed! But she didn't have the last say. Kyarie does have clothes on. I guess the best way to describe her garments, would be to think of Xena. Kiari does not wear the same style as Xena, but that is the best comparrison I can think of right now.

Kiari Nathari is an Elf, who later had Dragons Blood and energy mixed with her own. And she evolved into a Draconian Elf. She is a warrior. As one of the picture theme options, I included Demons, imps, devils, beholdres, because I noticed a lot of people consider dragons to be demon-like. I differ in that opinion. Then again...they aren't me.

Mediums Used: Graphite, Acrylic, and Sandstone Texture.

I cant believe no one has commented on this yet! Geeze! lol it's a shame that they make such a big deal about "nudity"...my art teacher won't allow mushrooms anywhere in an artwork because it suggests drugs....(even pizza box logos probly lol)

1 Janeé A. Polino replies: "IK! I think it's rediculous really. I mean look at the Sistine Chapel! Michelangelo wasn't thwarted or banned by the Vatican. And thank you very much for your lovely comment. And being the first here!"

Lovely work! That frame is simply beautiful, and the picture has a nice depth and sense of perspective. I love the face - it's expressive and mysterious.

2 Janeé A. Polino replies: "Thank you Norma! If only you could feel the actual texture used for the frame. It looks and feels like stone."

Lovely work! I like the monochrome colour scheme - it's moody and effective. The composition rocks, giving the picture a satisfying sense of depth. The twisted Celtic frame was an excellent addition, and really puts the finishing touch on the pic.
