SciFi & Fantasy Artwork by Matt Jarrett

Matt loves to draw and paint, but only when the muse strikes him. That's why he doesn't do it professionally. Warning! My gallery contains NUDITY (gasp! The horror! The Horror!)

Considering your love of history and of drawing, I’d be interested to see you combine the two and draw historical figures. Perhaps not those that we have photograghs of in exsistance, but those we don’t. People we know from history, such as Cleopatra, that we have some idea of her appearance, ( there are accounts and statues,) but that you could still have a little creative fun with, know what I mean? I’m so sick and tired of people drawing Cleopatra as an egyptian woman, for crying out loud, she was Greek! She was the granddaughter of Alaxander the Great and of the Ptolemaic Dynasty. Her famous statue claerly shows a woman with classic GREEK features! Okay, I’ll stop ranting now, lol.

:-) Matt Jarrett replies: "I’d like to do one of one of my favorite historical figures; Boudica. I think her story would make an awesome movie. What a woman!
I’d also like to do a more modern version of the Bourdeux Tapestry, but that would take an enormous amount of work and time. "

Hmm, interesting. I’ll have to look her up, the name Boudica doesn’t ring any bells, it’s a name I’m not familar with. I like learning new things, so you’ve given me a project to research. You know who I was thinking of? Deborah, the woman warrior who led an army of men into battle. Only because you seem to like drawing women warriors. Or what about the famed, Amazon Warriors, or Joan of Arc, the 15th century resistance fighter? Now, I’m going to go look up Boudica and learn something new. Cheers, Hannara.

Oh wait, I guess I don’t have to look her up, I remember her now. It was just the name that slipped my memory. Yes, she was awesome! It always broke my heart to read about her poor daughters, who did nothing wrong and were still punished in such a cruel and sick way. But she certainly had her revenge, didn’t she? It’s a shame she was finally defeated, but history wouldn’t be the same if she hadn’t been I guess,...but still, rock on girl!!! " Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned."

Hey Matt, I just wanted to stop by and say that i like your work. You’re one of those artists that keeps turning up when I go favorite hopping. I like they style, it feels kind of early 80’s. There is a good story behind each of them. I understand the moral obligation of the artist as well, and can respect that you are growing past/ away from, some of your earlier works. For whatever the reason. At any rate, nice work and I hope to see more of your work. 1

:-) Matt Jarrett replies: "Thank you! "

All your pieces are completely awesome. You are well skilled with pencils! I’d like to draw someday as well as you.

Matt: You are very talented. I found your site looking to spoof a friend who plays D&D with us but found your Racial Size Female image and had to join the site as I loved it so much. If you ever have time and the muse inspires you would like to share some ideas. Thanks Eb

:-) Matt Jarrett replies: "Wow. I’m very honored you find my work inspiring. So rare to recieve such genuine praise here on Elfwood these days. Thank you so much! "

You may hate watching TV, but in your thumbnail profile image you DO STRONGLY resemble Commander Riker on "Startrek, the Next Generation". One of my favorite shows.

I really enjoy this artist’s art and I’m looking for more. Does anyone have the files from the yahoo group? If they do, can you e-mail them to schala01@gmail.com?
