SciFi and Fantasy Art K´Razza by Matt Jarrett

Done in pencil, K'Razza was a creature I made up for one of my AD&D campaigns waayyyy back in '88. He's a magical creation, kind of a cross between a human and a gargoyle. K'Razza here is very sick; he's dying from the effects of a poisoned blade. In the campaign the wizard who created him was desperately trying to find a way to breed him so that he would have another 'dragon-man' when K'Razza eventually died from his injuries.

The picture is beautifully drawn, but the way he holds his wings and tail up while slouching and bending his knees makes it look more like he has poor posture than he is fatally sick. I'd expect that if he was sick enough to lack the strength to stand fully upright, he would be unable to keep his wings or tail supported. That's a minor thing though.
25 Apr 2001	Brian Keith Cooke	Loading... Nice musculature. The droopy-wing effect counteracts the lifted tail argument, I think. Or maybe that's just me. Figures that the mage would try to breed him rather than heal him.

4 Jan 2002	Rhianna	Loading... cool picture. got the ’bloody hell’ look really well on this guy. but also, what is an AD and D campeign??? im begining to think im missing out on something hugely big here! Matt Jarrett replies: "Heh, "bloody hell".. Ever since my time in England I brought that phrase back with me and it has crept into my regular everyday vocabulary. I love it. AD&D = Advanced Dungeons and Dragons. A role playing game."

11 Jun 2004	Liliane K. Weis	Loading... poor, K'Razza...but hey.. he exists as long as I but imagine.. am I older proud. I like him, because he looks more human than other "dragon-humans/gargoyles". Can you draw him one again, but happy? and great job done on shading and anatomy! Matt Jarrett replies: "K'Razza wasn't the kind of critter to be happy, Liliane! He was bred/created to be vehicle of destruction and death, an assassin and bodyguard of a corrupt wizard. If I do another pic of my dear K'Razza it would be one of him in his prime, terrifying and dealing out death the only way he can ( you think those claws are for decoration?)."
