This was a visual aid I drew for an old adventure I DM'd back in '87. This was the keep of the lich Lassivirin, who's minions had been kidnapping young virgins and draining them slowly of their life forces in order to keep the lich in his undead state (the transformation into a lich wasn't as successful as he had hoped). The adventurers were sent to find the lichs citadel, which only materialized on the Prime Material Plane during a full moon, and rescue the children held by Lassivirin.

Great drawing! It's spooky, but great! Nice detail and shading! and you get the perspective in such a nice way, make it more spooky. It's just great!

Looks like a place in my dreams! Well done!

your art reminds me so much of greg Hildebrandt or even Larry elmore, that good old eighties fantasy art style. ahh,, the Nostalgia, such great stuff.

:-) Matt Jarrett replies: "Wow! That's quite a compliment! I'm big fan of greg Hildebrandts work. His women renditions are an inspiration for many of my drawings. Elmore too is awesome. I particularly am a fan of Clyde Caldwell and Keith Parkinson for those out there who give a rip about who I aspire to. Then of course there is the almighty Alex Ross who has driven me to such a state I'm strongly tempted to quit my present college goals and get my arse back in art college and do what he does for a living. Thanks again for your compliments!"

My dm draws out our campaines, but not in this much detail. You have lucky players, but then again he dm's d&d, darksun, and shadowrun.

Its a great scene, has the perfect vibrations for a place where a villain resides.

:-) Matt Jarrett replies: "Thank you! Although in retrospect I should have left off the silly bat wings, overall I was happy with this pic"

I think it wouldn’t look as dynamic or original without the bat wings. So its a nice touch. And is it just me or does this one seem to have a fish-eye type of perspective to it? Maybe its an optical illusion?
