It's a great picture with tons of lovely, lovely detail but from my prespective his legs are just a wee bit short.
Overall a great picture.

Whoa, that is the sexiest and most masculine looking Satyr I have ever seen. (And believe me, I’ve seen a LOT of satyrs. I have a thing for the Great God Pan.) Really, just totally awesomely magnificent. Sometimes when I see all the waifish androgynous guys that some artists draw, I start to wonder if anyone knows how to draw masculine men any more. (Muscles sexy, body hair sexy, beards sexy.) You’ve done a spectacular job here, by far the most awesome male I’ve seen in quite some time. Can I be his bride?

:-) Matt Jarrett replies: "Thanks for the compliments! As far as being his bride though, from what I know about satyr’s, both mythological and those of the AD&D universe. they don’t understand the word "commitment" or "love" (beyond the physical aspect, that is). You want to party, he’s your guy, but anything else, well, you’re in for a lot of heartache. "

Wow... a satyr who has the decency to cover up his junk... never thought they’d consider that an option....

:-) Matt Jarrett replies: "Considering all the obnoxious and lewd comments I get from my other drawing that depicts penises, I thought it best he cover up just to avoid the hassle. The original of this pic shows him without his loincloth, exposing his genitalia, but I chose to cover him up using Paintshop Pro for the reasons I mentioned above"

nice picture, but i think his legs are a little bit too week for the body like that
I love your pictures, keep it going 12

This is excellent. The only thing that I noticed that seems a little off are his thighs, they don’t seem quite long enough. And although I know why you did it the loin cloth looks out of place on him. In ancient Greek sculptures and drawings Satyrs never wore any kind of clothing.

:-) Matt Jarrett replies: "The original of this drawing was without the loincloth, but considering how many people simply FREAK OUT about my depictions of nude men showing their junk I decided to add the loincloth with Paintshop Pro to avoid the hassle.

lol, I understand. My motto is let them freak out all they want. There’s a warning before they see it and if they chose to click on it anyway then that is their problem not mine. No offense but I won’t compromise my art for anyone. If ya like it that’s fine and if you don’t then that’s fine too. I draw to please myself, not anyone else, unless I’m drawing something for someone else then I draw it the way they want it. But other than that I draw to please me.
When I first started posting at Elfwood some 8 or 9 years ago now there were flame wars so bad that the mods had to step in and for a while I had to list my gallery as private so that only members could view it. But I never stopped drawing what I liked regardless of what anyone said, and I never will. 12

:-) Matt Jarrett replies: "You’re a little more thick skinned than I am, I suppose. I can take criticism about my art style, (heck, I encourage it. I want to be better) but it annoys me when someone implies I am a pornographer. I suppose Michelangelo was a pornographer too (his statue of Young King David is nude), as well as most of the great artists of the Renaissance. It also annoys me when people criticize the subject matter of my drawings. When I posted the nude version of Joanna Dancing I got numerous comments saying that I was condoning stripping and was objectifying women, that I hate women, blah blah blah. I was like HUH? Where did you get THAT? It gets me mad, mainly because I’m a nice guy and it bothers me when mean spirited people go out of their way to villify me, frequently having to really stretch things to make it work.
If you really knew about the whole story of Joanna you’d see that she’s a wounded woman who, because of her great beauty, find it impossible for anyone to see that she is much more than a pretty face, and to complicate things she has an exhibitionist side as a result of being ignored by her father her whole life. So on one side she wants to be loved, on the other side she has a deep insecurity that she is not worthy of that affection and has thus given up, and what she is now is someone whose identity is wrapped up in her beauty (but the woman deep down is still there, yearning for somone to see beyond it). I dunno, but I think that’s hardly objectifying women. In fact, it’s a case study how everyone else objectifies women of beauty, including other women."

Hi Matt,
I understand exactly what you are saying, believe me I do. I don’t know how long you’ve been a member of Elfwood but I can tell you one thing, don’t let these A-Holes get to you and they’ll go away. I’ve been called some of the nastiest derogatory names you can imagine when I first started posting here but when I continued to post they finally gave up and went away.
Don’t deny those of us who want to see your art the privilege of doing so because of a few ignorant prudes. You’re an excellent artist and you should draw and post what you like, not what someone tries to dictate to you. I’m asking as a fellow artist who has been there and one whom enjoys your art not to give in to them.
I’ve even had people use the ole Adam and Eve thing on me about how they hid from God because they were ashamed of their nakedness. They failed to take in the fact that it said "they" were ashamed of their nakedness, not God. If he had a problem with it they’d of been wearing clothes from the start. Just hang in there buddy, it will get better. 1
