(June 2006)
I first drew this picture - or a more primitive version of it, rather - five years ago, and submitted it for an art competition at my school. Unfortunately, it didn't win anything. Even more unfortunately, I missed the notice in the newsletter the next day saying that all submitted artwork had to be collected by the end of the week. As it happened, it didn't occur to me to go and get my drawing back until a few months later - by which time, the teachers informed me, it had either been lost forever in the bowels of the Art Department, or destroyed.

I took this information well enough, considering that that drawing was the largest, most flamboyant and colourful piece of artwork I had done to that date. I simply resolved to draw it again one day, in an improved form.

So: here it is finally, after five years. I can confidently say that this version is a big improvement on the original. It did feel a bit bizarre, though, to resurrect this picture and its idea(s). The 'me' from 2001 was a good deal more spiritual than I am now. Here and now I find it somewhat puzzling.

What a story! It is great remaking a piece that you did before, and I think you did a wonderful job. This piece is breathtaking and unique. I love all the details and the emotions.

Definately deserves a mods choice! i think this is fantastic and i love the concept, i dissagree with what mammi said, i dont think it is horrible or horrific or awfulin any way, i think it is a very accurate representation of the link between animals, specifically humans, and nature. wonderfull and inspiring, keep up the standard.

The figure looks so Christlike. I think it's the pose.

It is beautiful. I love the colours and the little veins. I also find it a bit puzzling. But sometimes its refreshing with art that is a little bit less obvious. You dont see that allot in fantasy art. Lovely! I could hang this on my wall.

Oh it`s beautiful. I like the colour contrasts, and the magic feeling of nature. Her whole face is beautiful. And the way you make her look like a part of nature is so nicely done, her neck and hair specially. Her eyelashes is my favourite part!

So beautiful in an eerie, almost surreal sense. I love the exquisite imagery. Definitely one of the best and most imaginative in your gallery.

Great lighting, colours. Very solemn.
