My name is Jasmine Becket-Griffith (also known as 'Strangeling'). I am 27 years old and am a full-time self-employed fantasy artist.
I have been making art as long as I can remember. I spend the VAST most of my time creating art. I am primarily a painter, and maintain my website, www.strangeling.com to showcase my work. I do a lot of custom commissions, book and magazine illustration, I sell small paintings and prints HERE on eBay, and I sell prints on my website. I am well known mostly for my fairy art, but I do work with a variety of other gothic fantasy themes.
I have a fantastic new art book out which features over 100 of my paintings, insight into my artwork and thoughts on faeries, as well as a couple of tutorials showing my painting techniques! It is callied 'Fairy: the Art of Jasmine Becket-Griffith' and signed copies can be ordered on my website HERE!
I have also collaborated with Brian Froud and Amy Brown (and some other wonderful Faery artists) on a book called 'The Art of Faery' (available at Amazon HERE!) And a new book with Alan Lee called 'The World of Faery' (available at Amazon HERE!).
I am also honoured to be a part of the new 'Spectrum 11' art book, which can be purchased at Amazon HERE.
My artwork is licensed for a variety of products, stickers, keychains, T-shirts, etc. sold in thousands of retail stores, so it may look familiar =) The stores Hot Topic and Torrid have many exclusive products of mine. To see more about my merchandise, please visit my store HERE
If you are looking for BIG HUGE posters of my paintings to put on your wall, or even have framed, mounted or matted, you can find several of my posters available through Art.com by clicking on my gallery link HERE.
I work mostly in acrylic paints. I incorporate a lot of detail in my work, with both realistic and fantastical elements. Fantasy art is my main genre. I use a lot of medieval, religious and mythological elements in my art. And of course all of that fairy art too! My artistic influences include: Hieronymus Bosch, H.R. Giger, Luis Royo, Larry Elmore, Mark Ryden, Trevor Brown, Brian Froud, Alan Lee, Waterhouse, Millais, the other Pre-Raphaelites, Da Vinci, James Christensen, and more!
I live with my husband Matt, and our cat Azrael in beautiful Celebration, Florida. I love computers, art, Dragonlance, Dungeons & Dragons, kitties, Nine Inch Nails, Pink Floyd, the Beatles, reading, the Simpsons, BBC, corsets, Anne Rice, travel, frogs & toads, being a vegetarian, witchcraft, renaissance festivals, and all things faery, fantasy and gothic.
UPDATE: 08/17/06 Hi everyone! I'm in the process of adding a bunch of new pictures here at Elfwood. I also have many new prints on my website and I have a gallery with Epilogue as well.
