| 18 Sep 2002 | Stacey Rebekah Leech | Loading...I dont know if you've ever heard of the Author Jean M Auel, (Clan of the Cave Bear, Valley of Horses, Mammoth Hunters, Plains of Passage and Shealters of Stone) But in her series the early people describe their Goddess as the Mother, called Mut, Mudo, Donii, etc depending on which "tribe" they are from, but they all mean the same thing.
She has based her books on research completed all over Europe and I believe there were some statues that supported her "Mother" and what the early peoples believed she looked like.
When I saw this piece it reminded me of her. Back then, no-one knew what the face of the Mother looked like and it was to dangerous to meddle with, so they often didn't add any facial features to their carvings or sculptures.
Again this made me think of that and I thought I'd share that with you.
You've captured the beauty of a woman here. It elaites the saying, "There's much more to a woman than just a pretty face."
Beautiful work! | |

She is very normal, unexaggerated, and for that, she is all the more beautiful. Very motherly. I like it. | |

| 8 Mar 2004 | Lauren R Longworth | Loading...this is magnificent, such an inspiration. There is only one fault that I could point out for you, but looking around i don't think it's concerning, because you're amazing artwise. anyways, I think you could make the hands a little bigger, other than that, great Oh, Btw, nice use of colour and I love the lgiht entering from the top left corner, very effective Jason Ellis replies: "Yes, her hands are a bit funny. This picture was one of the most intuitive I've done. With the hands, because I was drawing with pastel sticks A4 paper, detail is hard, so I was actually relieved they didn't turn out a mess... so I just left them the way they were and hoped no one would notice them. Now you have come along and spoilt everything.... Just joking! Thankyou for your lovely comment." | |
