Tag As FavoriteComment		Winding precariously through the canyon realms of Echonia, this narrow and treacherous path represents the only land-road between northwest and southeast regions of Shalan's great southern continent, Urlurshimron. It was the scene of two great migrations. In the beginning of the Second Age - the Age of Men - the Shen were the first to flee along this path into the land which was to afterwards become known as Shenthrynn. They were followed in the Third Age - the Age of Terror - by those who they had originally fled from but who were now persued by the Mawgayr.

This section of the road lies in the area where it rises out of Echonia upwards into the great plateau of Mindorna, and it overlooks the headwaters of the Lasecuorda. 'The Hilluven Road' is a story that belongs to the same series as 'The Mask of Miranor'.

This is not a great picture, but I had fun with it. Soft Pastels and pastel pencils.

Finally I can comment on your page again 2 I love this landscape, Jas! I have always had problems doing this sort of thing, but you are really good!!! The colors and distance effect are absolutely wonderful. What's your secret?

:-) Jason Ellis replies: "My secret is to scribble and hope I fluke a picture every now and then. Well, I guess maybe it has something to do with focus or something... not so much detail and more impressionistic, but I have always had trouble with landscapes too. I think pastels a good for practicing landscapes because they make you compose in more of a whole sort of way."

ow I luv this picture and the colours. The mountanous area specially. Uve given it a gr8 feel of depth and I feel as if I'm there. Tres realistic.

Some how this remnds me of a painting Tolkien did of Rivendel... hmmmm.

:-) Jason Ellis replies: "There's that Tolkien fellow that everyone keeps talking about, again. This was actually inspired by a photograph I saw in a readers digest magazine of a walking trail in south east asia."
