| 31 Oct 2001 | Mark Andrew Goldfine | Loading...lovely, Jason!!! I really love yor color work, especially the landscape!!! This is the hardest thing for me, as I have more or less dedicated my time to drawing humans. Keep up the landscape work, because you will really benefit from it when you add characters to it. Mindorna rules, Jashael Well, I just tried to do another pastel drawing, but it didn't work out too well... and mum has hidden her hairspray, so I can't set it. You are right about what you said about landscapes and figures. I am finding I like impressionistic landscapes, because whenever I try too much detail it just doesn't look very good. Oh, I almost forgot how good it feels to have a pastel in my hand after all that CG... I love the texture and intuitiveness of natural (meaning pencils, paints, pastels) mediums. | |
| 4 Nov 2001 | Angela-Yvonne Ziebolz | Loading...Beautiful!!! I guess this is the place to go when I want to be alone with my thoughts. The clouds bring a certain calm darkness and storminess (is that a word?) into it which is perfect for comforting troubles. Okay, I'm in a weird mood today, as I was yesterday, and as I will be tomorrow. The pastels strike again! | |
| 6 Feb 2002 | Anneke Hut | Loading...There is such a wonderful bright light in it. It makes you smile. I think this is the kind of light what made the old painters of former centuries go to Italy, where they obviously found it. You have a very special talent in making landscapes Jason. Jason Ellis replies: "I have always found landscapes challenging, but now I see the light... I see the light!" | |
| 22 Feb 2002 | Janne Vuollet | Loading...Hmm... Landscapes with pastels... Whoie this is pretty good I've never managed to make such details with pastels. Things always get messy when I use them, me including Anyhow this is great Jason Ellis replies: "Thanks, mate! That is apparently the trick, to suggest detail without actaully being detailed or something... beats me *shrugs* I still haven't done anything with coloured pencils; have just played around with pastel pencil, but goodness they are hard to sharpen without them crumpling. Hey, the mess is half the fun... and half the work too." | |
| 2 Apr 2002 | Zoe Maree Zanos | Loading...i think you have done a reasonably good job with this picture. I use pastels myself and think they are just the best medium to work with. You have used them well by not detailing to much and letting the pastel work for you. Nice textures aswell. Have a good one... | |
| 20 Apr 2002 | H. Ching | Loading...This is a great piece. Your soft and fuzzy coloring works wonders on this picture. | |
| 18 Jul 2002 | Laura Laurain | Loading...*glares at the landscape* Oh, sure. Look decent for JASON. Pah. I'm not jealous...*puffs up and walks to the next picture* | |
| 10 Dec 2002 | Markku Immonen | Loading...Another review. It looks like itīs raining in the background... interesting effect. One of my favourites of yours despite itīs simple looking. Itīs somewhat disturbing work since it looks like there should be something worth mentioning, but there just isnīt, but it just makes me concentrate on the details. The rough look makes me to look for details and this time I really noticed the rich use of colors. Like it... yup yup... And then the balance. I really like the way you havenīt placed the mountain in the middle of the picture, but maybe the clouds could have been a mirror immage of what they are now... Oh really donīt take my comments too seriously. Iīm just being over critical. I love this piece ^_^ | |
| 13 Apr 2003 | Ellen 'the Alaskan' Million | Loading...The lack of fine detail takes nothing from the wonderful *feel* of this piece. It's a gorgeous landscape, the kind of place I would love to spend time. | |
| 14 Dec 2003 | Christina 'Perplexity' Likness | Loading...I hope you stick to traditional media like this. More of "you" comes through I think. Your landscapes are so good - it's rare to be good not only at figures and faces but landscapes too! Quit hogging all the talent, you. | |
