SciFi and Fantasy Art Shadowfax by Jason Ellis

Drawn in Pencil when I was 15 & then placed in the bottom of a drawer & forgotten. Found when I was 20, very crumpled. Went over it in chalk pastels. Unfortunatley, I gave it way to some-one, but I took a photo of it for some reason. I scanned it & played around with contrast, intensity & stuff; I liked the effect, but maybe I've made it a bit tacky. Chalk pastels & hairspray pictures smell so nice :o)

I can draw/setch/paint horses well, but I am hopeless with the shade and light effects, I never know ehere to put them (and I have three horses so most people would at least expect me to notice where the light appears on horses bodies....) I know in an approximate detail, but your picture is stunning And, and this is just a note to the last comment made. A 'grey' horse is exactly what this person has drawn. A grey horse is really white, its only called grey because grey horses have black skin beneath a white coat therefore creating the name 'grey'. They are not actually grey shakes head in disbelief of some people non-existent knowledge who try to prove things which arnt true Anyways, again, Love the picture
24 Aug 2004	Invisible girl	Loading... Oh. My. God. This might be the best horse picture I have ever seen. I love horses and own one myself and am a HUGE Lord of the Rings fan. I think that this picture is really the closest of any I have seen to how I imagined Shadowfax looking. I love all your work but this one more than usual I think...If that is possible
9 Jul 2005	Vera Moon	Loading... having studied horses, i agree with Najharah. she is correct in saying that shadowfax was really a white horse with black skin beneath. but i love the pic!!!!!!!! i wish i could draw horses.... i can draw anything and everything BUT horses
4 Sep 2005	Elvandia	Loading... Lol! You certainly are right about the grey, although there are many different types, flea bitten, dappled and roaned. Most white horses are actually flea bitten greys. Anywho, the pic is lovely! The contrast and the glowiness is wonderful!=)
