| 22 Feb 2002 | Courtney Weger Cantrell | Loading...Mmm, love the fluidity of shading/lighting in the figure itself. And, though simple, the pic is very expressive. I'll bet there's a great story behind this one, too, like in some of your other pics. Jason Ellis replies: "Yep, their is a whole novel about it. *Points to link* Thankyou." | |
| 26 Mar 2002 | Sarah 'Wren' Skinner | Loading...this is great. I love your use of shadows in this. Absolutely superb. The only thing that bothers me about this is the fact that the background is very sharp, but the main figure is...blurry or vague looking. Maybe that was intended but, i just feel that overall the picture would have a lot more "umph" if the the main figures were either sharper or there were more a sense of otherworldliness to them (if that was indeed the intended effect). Other than that though, it's fantastic Jason Ellis replies: "Well, I have just sent my tablet to my sister to use for a while, so I am hanging up the CG. I want to draw the good ol' way. People sometimes suggest that CG is tricking, but it really requires a lot of knowledge and expertise to make a good image. And well, I am no wiz with these contraptions. But this image is like out of a vision... Miranor, the big guy, is supposed to be phantom like, a diminished god, but there are no excuses for the baby being blurry." | |
| 30 Apr 2002 | Mark Andrew Goldfine | Loading...If you tone down the texture on the cobblestones a bit, this image would be PERFECT!!! It's great the way it is, simply trying to help *runs away, afraid that Jas might throw something* Jason Ellis replies: "No worries, I just couldn't get those cobbles to work in CG. Anyway, my excuse is this is looking through a vision... so maybe everything should be blurry. *chucks a cobblestone at Goldfine* No worries, I like your suggestion... I usually have a tantrum, but I need someone to give me advice." | |
| 17 Jun 2002 | Meg Baker | Loading...I really love this one... your pictures are so dramatic and vivid, they are totally convincing as belonging to another world and time. Well done! Oh yes and I don't see anything wrong with the shadow... sometimes I think people want art to be more perfect than life ^_~ Jason Ellis replies: "And we all know how perfect life is, don't we I am pleased that you see this as belonging to another world and time and how it is dramatic and vivid. Thanks Meggy." | |
| 18 Jul 2002 | Laura Laurain | Loading...Be proud! This looks awesome and original and still...yes...eerie. You can fall into a state of insane egotistical pride now. *stands back and waits* Jason Ellis replies: " Oh, don't ever tell me to fall into a state of insane egotistical pride again. Look, it took me ages to snap out of it and reply to this comment! Thanks, Lollipop =)" | |
| 9 Sep 2002 | Mikko S. Anttonen | Loading...Uhh.. Don't know what to say. That look just amazing. Jason Ellis replies: "Thanks Mikko for your stunned graciousness. This is one of the images that I like myself. Nice to recieve the approval of an artist like yourself." | |
| 27 Sep 2002 | Kimberly | Loading...Is he going to hurt the baby or save the baby? And is the baby a girl or a boy? and tell me when you can. nice pic and good detales.^_^ Jason Ellis replies: "He is a god and he is going to raise the baby who is a girl to be a mage =)" | |
| 27 Nov 2002 | Markku Immonen | Loading...I would have made it monochromatic, but that isn´t a surprise for you I guess. Nice textures and theme. The lighting is also nice and dramatic. | |
| 15 Jan 2003 | Penelopé | Loading...I love this picture. The blurriness of the god works for me, actually, because it makes it quite obvious that he's otherworldly, not quite of the natural world. The baby being blurry fits as well - who's to say how mortals are affected by the presence of a deity? And she's obviously going to grow up as someone special, not really of the norm - maybe this is showing that? (I seem to be rambling. Could be the two litres of Coke I just drank... or the fact that this picture is ramble-worthy ;p) The shadowing on his face is a little odd - he looks very gaunt to me. Maybe that was what you intended, I don't know. It doesn't detract from the picture at all, though, in fact it makes it even more striking. | |
| 4 Jun 2004 | Jodi K. Shaffner | Loading...I wondered into your gallery somehow and followed into your library. I have just started reading your stories and I love them. They of course led me to your tour for your gods and goddesses and back here. I really like this depiction. I love your writing also. I could live here in Elfwood, I could. | |
