| 14 Jun 2003 | Queen Of Mordor | Loading...I agree with Ulan, she does look like an Egyptian bronze bust. Good job! Jason Ellis replies: "Thankyou. I think the hair and eyes might contribute to that impression also. It is also quite a stylised looking image; though actually, it is modelled of a living person who has those extraordinary features." | |
| 21 Jun 2003 | Silence | Loading...she reminds me vaugly of "the bust of pallas" in Edgar Allen Poe's "the raven" (pallas is pallas Athena) I guess you could say she looks like Athena... with pointy ears. Jason Ellis replies: "Thankyou. I will have to keep and eye out for that. An Elven Athena? That is interesting. I tend to associate more with Diana... or is that Artemis *gets confused* I'll just look around for a good bust then " | |
| 4 Jul 2003 | Gwengwilwering | Loading...I like how you made her look glossy and smooth, and how the light is hitting her....she is almost exactly what I think Tolkien's elves look like except she just looks a little too solemn. Jason Ellis replies: "Yes, I imagine Tolkein's elves as influenced a lot by the heroic peoples of the legends and myths that influenced him. So I think of them as being more archaic, handsome and stronger featured than say the D&D type elves. Mythic would be a good word to describe how I see them. Thanks for your compliments." | |
| 14 Jul 2003 | Charlene Cross | Loading...I like this, it looks like a polished bronze deity | |
| 9 Nov 2003 | Elke Van den Ende | Loading...It's not how I imagine Luthien (I think everyone has a different interpretation), but it's very beautiful nonetheless. Go you! ^^ | |
| 6 Jul 2004 | Greg Boyer | Loading...A short note to gwengwilwering: considering that Tinuviel belongs to the Nolder Race, cursed by Feanor to never return to the undying lands of the Vala till the silmarils were recovered from morgoth i think that the solomnness she has is well deserved, and something that not enough people attribute to the elves of middle earth.
A good and well done picture that captures a seldom seen view of the elves of middle earth. | |
| 22 Sep 2004 | Firewalker | Loading...Your inspiration is very good. As Tolkien described her, with the combination of sun and shadow. Excellent. But more hair would make this pic perfect. | |
| 6 Oct 2004 | Marina Sahinovic Havram | Loading...This is so different and so beautiful! What else to say...? Very, very nice work! | |
| 9 Nov 2005 | Kaegan N. Cusenbary | Loading...I think you should stick with pencil, it suits the style of this pic. better. Me no likee photoshop. Takes away the expression and makes everything look too enhanced to the point that it becomes bland... Jason Ellis replies: "Point taken. I think a lot of my photoshop work is too tacky, but I don't think using photoshop on your pictures is such a great evil. You don't damage or harm the picture in anyway. The pencil version still exists. I don't think there is any harm in experimenting, and that is the nice thing about photoshop - you can experiment without destroying the original. I understand why you prefer the pencil version though, so thankyou for your comments. Oh look, new smilies " | |
