Another poem about a character i am yet to add to my story. This character is training to grasp his inner potential, to become great in the field of magic.

Riding on a steed of emotion

I find I'm in full gallop.

Heart pounding, I desire in elicit passion

To ride free, unhindered and pure.

Eyes sparkling, I let go the reins,

Giving in to the pull of inner desire

Against an instinctive urge to recoil

Back to a place that is devoid of emotion.

Why does it haunt me so?

For a second the heart of my soul is exposed, then

The inevitable - Panic has struck,

With practised grace I leap from the back of the beast

That encompasses my fearful yearning within,

Summoning an intangible mist, I am encased,

Safe, but also trapped with my greatest enemy, myself.

Yearning for the uncontrollable beast, I find I cannot go back

Transfixed I pear out from my "desired" seclusion

Yet I frown with a smile, turn my back and walk away,

Knowing I will some day grasp the power within.
