I just can't get over their names.. they seem so.. puny. I would expect a proud race of dragons would have strong names, that strike fear into ones heart!! Other than that.. purty good. The ending.. eh.. I dunno. I mean, I love the warning at the end.. but if the dragons overwhelmed the humans how would be here? *shrugs* I told you I would be honest. Jeff Burke replies: "Comment From The Writer:*blink* You call that honest? You're holding back. First is the names, then the ending, then the rather blatent--unintentional, but blatent--theft of lines from Theoden from The Two Towers, then the one that NOBODY seems to have caught on to yet but is freakin' HUGE: Arthurian knights were a late 13th early fourteenth century time, yet the new world wasn't discovered until nearly the sixteenth century. How could there even be rumours about it in an Arthurian time? See what I mean? It's full of that kind of stuff. And I don't care enough about it to take the time to edit it, either...*shrugs.* I " | |
| 14 Jun 2005 | Katie Collishaw | Loading...Well then, Mr. I want the truth so badly. There was that one.. so totally taken out from the gladiator. " We who are about to die." oh please. they're dragons. And we should all have realized that they couldn't die in the end. And o.k. Then ending, sucked. It was a horrible end. I mean. It was like you looked at the clock and went " Oh crap, it's almost time for school to be over." And quickly typed the ending!! See. I've ranted. And I hate ranting. Look what you've made me do. *grr* lol. Eh. I feel so horrible now.. Please, don't get emotional. You just wanted the truth. Jeff Burke replies: "*beams* But see, now you've gone and said exactly what needed to be said. And I agree with you. Complete crap. As I said before. It's neat on the surface, but dig in any and it will sink on dry land. " | |
| 26 Jun 2005 | Sarah J Kinder | Loading...Generally this reads rather nicely . . . could use just a bit more description maybe. The part with the humans and fomer dragons all assembled for war really confused me. It became somewhat obvious rather early on (when the dragons were transforming) how the story would end. As to the 400 years thing, not sure I'd call it ancient although it's pretty darn old. Biologicall speaking sequoia trees can live to be 2-3000 years old. Not that it really matters anyway. Overall I rather like this piece and with a few modifications could be even better. -S Jeff Burke replies: "*see above comments. It's all been covered there." | |
| 6 Jul 2005 | Ruth 'Cookie Monster' Browne | Loading...d*glances up at other comments* You seem to be pretty certain that this story is crap. Don't be so self-deprecating! It ain't that bad. With a bit of work, it could be deserving of that MC... ^^ I liked the name "Caul". And yes, the "lied" to "lay" thing. That was... awful... *grins* Honesty is the best policy, no? I also found some elements of this story confusing, such as the dragon/army thing, the dragon/human/how did the army know thing... yeah. Otherwise, this wasn't bad, actually. Nice storyline, if predictable, liked the dragons and the ending, which wasn't as abysmal as all *that*... Anyways, I'll go try out some of your other stories to compare this one to. *cookie_monster* P.S. Really cool to see that you're (at some level at least) into Star Wars, Eragon and Anne McCaffrey (saw that you liked 'em from your comment on Cecily Webster's page), whose Pern series is rather boring and drawn out... And Wheel of Time! Robert Jordan's brilliant, 'cept his political scenes suck, and there are way too many books in the series... me rambling. Apologies. Jeff Burke replies: "I dunno. Just don't like it. *shrug* DId you catch the HUGE timing inconsitency...with Arthur being about five hundred years late and all that. McCaffery's stories *are* boring...Star Wars is good...as long as you don't think about how abysmal all the acting is. As for Eragon...good book for someone who's only 16. Kinda derivitive, though enjoyable. But what is up with Paulini's obsession with the color blue? The other Mod's Choice is much better, though I'm not really entirely happy with that either." | |
| 24 Jul 2005 | D. 'Yolaron' Hendrikson | Loading...Good story. Very good story. Here's the funny part- I've met someone with incredably bright green eyes. No, she didn't try to eat me... anyway, I thought it was a well-deserved mod's choice. and I agree with you about the Pern books and Star Wars. Jeff Burke replies: "*sigh.*"The Cure" is much better if you want something that isn't completely derivitive and hugely flawed...Thank you for your time, though! I appreciate that you liked it!" | |

| 8 Aug 2006 | Alexandru Moisi | Loading...really nice. I liked the idea of transforming dragons but...you never say they could change back to humans...so it's a little unclear. I liked the fact thet it doesn't end with the dragons transformation as one would expect but goes on to the knights and so. I do have a qustion, though, the dragons won the battle, or at least so it seems. Why did they change in teh first place? I mean the dragons you portray seem really strong and humans shuldn't be a problem for them...I hope you can makesome sense out of this comment it's trully to late for reading and giving feedback. Congrats for the mod Jeff Burke replies: "Well...if I remember right (haven't read this since I wrote it about three years ago), it wasn't that they couldn't deal with humans, it's that there are millions of us. It'd be like if you were attacked by a housecat. Not a problem. Fifty cats? You'd be in trouble. *pause* I think that was the reason, anyways..." | |

| 29 Mar 2007 | Clarion Hess | Loading...That was a great. I love the ending, the hero, the family loyalty. And the mystery of the end. Very original and well done. Congrats on the well-deserved Mod's Choice. A very cute story and I loved it. Jeff Burke replies: "Glad that you liked it." | |
