The Last Unicorn Based on Peter Beagle's novel 'The Last Unicorn'. Depicted is the Unicorn of the title and the sad Prince Lyr, the Unicorn's lover when she was in human form. Rising ominously from the back is the mad King Haggard's tower, from which he controlled the malevolent Red Bull and captured all the other unicorns of the world. The book's pretty good, and is a refreshing change from all the sword and sorcery -style fantasy available today. After preliminary sketches made by hand, I redrew the best composition in CorelDraw, making lineart with a .8 pen setting. The lineart drawing was converted to raster form and ported to Photoshop. I added handmade textures from my rather large library and fused it with the black and white drawing, resulting in a mixed media type of collage. Hope the image has the same 'magical' essence as the story.

Oh wow, this is just incredible! I think you've totally captured the feel of the story... especially with the crooked castle! This is my favorite piece of TLU-inspired art in Elfwood. 2

I love that book ^^ I like your style a lot! Only one thing about the unicorn...I'm not sure about this, but, I don't think female unicorns have the beard, and the Last Unicorn was female...oh well. I love Prince Lir!

such a sad sad book. That poor unicorn girl... I liked the anime style the movie gave it, but your old fashioned type is excellent, too. Great portrayal..

What a horrible depiction.

Oh, my goodness, this is beautiful. I adore your style - so very original and unusual. The unicorn glows with a white, ghostly purity, and there's a lovely contrast between the paleness of its body and the richer tones of the surroundings. I'm so very impressed! You have a definite eye for design. 2

I like your expression in this picture very much. The stye's so different from the other artists here. It's kind of abstract, and that's what makes it special :]
Keep it up.

I Love the story, and I so much wished Amalthea would have been turned back into human to spend the rest of her life with Prince Lir. Poor Prince Lir! I love Prince Lir! He's the most beautiful prince in the universe!
P.S. I cannot wait to see the 2006 Last Unicorn Version!
It is great you dedicated a website to this incredible and unforgetable film.

I very much like your style. I just have one criticism about the unicorn - the tail is described in the book as being similar to that of a lion, I believe. Your unicorn, though, aside from that one inaccuracy, is lovely, and Lir and the castle are well-imagined. This does have a nice collage/cutout sort of feel, and the textures are great.
