1/31/2007 Been a little while since I've given an update so here's a little about me.  I'm currently 34 years old and live in Okinawa, Japan (soon to be Vicenza, Italy!).  I have a beautiful wife and a son named Bear.  We are expecting our second child in April!  I really enjoy RPGs and have a large collection of games from over the years. I started playing RPGs many moons ago (about 1983-84) and it has been a passion of mine ever since.  I guess the older games (such as 1st edition AD&D) really fired my imagination about fantasy art. I know there are more technically proficient artists and the flashy art that is out there is wonderful stuff, but there is really something about the late 1970 early 1980 fantasy artists that still really get me excited. I really like and respect artisits such as Jim Holloway, Erol Otis, Jeff Dee, Dave Trampier, David Sutherland III, and many, many more.  I love doing art and am open to taking commisions or working on RPG projects so by all means querry me if you are interested.  I just signed a contract with Expeditious Retreat Press to do some artwork for some upcoming OSRIC RPG modules.  It is not my first professional work, but it is the highest profile.  So if you like 1e AD&D, have a look at Expeditious Retreat Press and their line of Advanced Adventure Modules.  Anyway, look around, leave comments and suggestions and have fun!

I'm in the process of working on my own RPG project under the OSRIC RPG system.  If you are not aware of what OSRIC is you can check it out here:  http://www.knights-n-knaves.com/osric/.  If you happen to be a fan of old school styles of RPG gaming (such as oh, I dunno the 1st eddition of the most popular fantasy RPG ever) it might be something you'd like to check out.  I also highly recommend Castles and Crusades by Troll Lord games, the Dungeon Crawl Classics line by Goodman Games, and any number of fine products from Necromancer Games.  As i said, I'm open to working on gaming projects so contact me with details and I'll see what we can work out.  Take care and as always, have fun!

P.S.:  Please leave me some feedback!  I always appreciate honest viewer criticism!

Your work is great. The amount of detail that you can put into a drawing is totally awesome. I've really enjoyed my visit here and my only problem with your gallery is that there aren't enough pictures!! ^-^ Congrats on mods choice as you deserve it.

:-) Johnathan L Bingham replies: "Thanks. I really love it when I get a chance to work on some art project. I really appreciate the Mod's choice as there are several very tallented artists here at Elfwood. What I appreciate more is that people enjoy my work, thanks for stopping by!"

Wonderful gallery! By the way, your son's first name is an excellent one (it's what I call my husband) and he's so adorable!

:-) Johnathan L Bingham replies: "Hehe, Thanks (I told Bear and he was very happy- he loves attention)!"

Great looking old-school stuff here. I wouldn't mind having art of this quality in my own products.

:-) Johnathan L Bingham replies: "Wow! Thanks Lance! I'm a HUGE fan of Necromancer Games and have thought about trying to get some freelance work through them. So perhaps in the near future, the guys at Necro may be hearing from me."

Love the art, that Owlbear picture is my new computer background! Reminds me of all those great illustrations in 1st edition D&D!

:-) Johnathan L Bingham replies: "Thanks, I appreciate the comments! I too rather like the owlbear pic. I have a lot of critters that I'm working on and I feel that I keep improving as I work. "

Good Gallery. You should try inking some of your pencil pictures to darken them a bit and add more depth.Try shading with ink washes. Brilliant stuff however.
