I would have liked to see a bit more background, since I find the nature of Barsoom to be very compelling and very complementing of Dejah Thoris' complexion. Now that was comp, but anyway... let's see, yeah. A nice portrait with a nicely maniacal hound.

Thark warrior (and later chieftain) Tars Tarkas put Woola in charge of John Carter, and later Carter put him in charge of Princess Dejah Thoris. There's more to the story than that, but I believe this picture takes place after Carter has put Woola in charge of Dejah.

| 9 Dec 2006 | A. Numinous | Loading...I don't know about this. Sure, as an interpretation of Dejah Thoris, it IS more original and interesting than the usual plasticky Playboy Playmate creature that seems to be the feminine ideal of the overwhelming majority of sf/fantasy art pros (or, if you prefer, hacks), and you're obviously no mean hand at painting, but the Princess of Helium never struck me as the stocky, "Venus of Willendorf" type, either. Which of course only means that we imagined her differently. Keep 'em coming. There's not enough ERB art in the 'Wood. | |
